Isaac Woungang received the M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics from the University of
Aix-Marseille II and University of Toulon & Var, France, in 1990 and 1994 respectively. He joined
the Department of Computer Science at Ryerson University in 2002 and was promoted to Full Professor
in 2014. He served the department as Associate Chair, Undergraduate Program Director (2013-2014 &
2016-2018), as Interim Graduate Program Director (Jan. 2011-Sept. 2011) and Coop Program Advisor
(2006-2018). During his sabbatical (Jan. 2009 - June 2009 and Jan. 2016 - Apr. 2016), he was a
Visiting Professor at National Ilan University, Taiwan and Fukuoka Institute of Technology,
Japan, respectively. Dr. Woungang's industrial experience includes working at Nortel Networks.
Dr. Woungang directs a research group working on radio resource management (RRM), computer security,
and computer communication network areas within his founded Distributed Applications and Broadband
NEtworks Laboratory (DABNEL). He served as Editor for several International Journals by IEEE, Wiley,
Springer, and Elsevier. He co-edited Biometric-based physical and cybersecurity systems, Springer (2018),
Information Security Practices: Protection, Assurance and Trust Perspectives, Springer (2017),
Routing in Opportunistic Networks, Springer (2013), Handbook on Green Information and Communication
Systems, Elsevier (2012), and co-authored Machine Learning Techniques for Gait Biometric Recognition
using the Ground Reaction Force, Springer (2016). Dr. Woungang served as TPC member, IEEE GLOBECOM
(2013-2018) and Track chair of IEEE AINA (2012-2018). He served as IEEE Toronto, Computer Chapter
Chair (2012-2016). Research interests include: Radio resource management, computer security,
heterogeneous networks, computational intelligence in telecommunications, performance modelling,
analysis and optimization.
