Short Bio

Marcus Santos is currently an associate professor of computer science at Ryerson University, Canada, where he supervises research students both at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Marcus grew up in Araxá, Minas Gerais, Brazil, received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees on computer engineering at the Federal University of Uberlândia, and a PhD in Computer Engineering at the University of São Paulo. His research interests reside in advancing the understanding and application of evolutionary computing systems. In 2007, he was a visiting professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea. In 2013, he was a visiting researcher at the Laboratório Nacional de Computação Científica, Petrópolis, Brazil.  In July 2015 he became Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Student Affairs in the Faculty of Science at Ryerson University.
